Those She Leaves Behind
Alicia Mae's four months on earth touched more lives than many touch in a lifetime.
She leaves behind a family forever changed, forever blessed to have known her,
and forever committed to carrying her light forward.
Her Family
Mom - Who called her "little goose"
Dad - Whose little girl she'll always be
Big Sister "Bean" - Who loved her fiercely
Big Brother Eli - Who was so proud to be her oldest brother
Middle Big Brother "Ben Ben" - Who showed her gentle strength
Littlest Big Brother Tao - Who shared his baby years with her
Along with many grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless others whose
lives she touched with her bright blue eyes and infectious smile. Each one will
carry her memory, each one will miss her deeply, each one was blessed by knowing her.

"Life will go forward without her, but it will be so much different—a difference no one ever expected."
The world continues to turn. Days pass. Seasons change. But nothing will ever be quite
the same. Her absence is felt in every family gathering, every milestone, every moment
of joy tinged with the ache of missing her. Yet in that difference, there is also growth.
We love harder. We hold tighter. We cherish more deeply. That is her gift.
A Life That Saved Lives
On November 5th, 2025, at 2:06pm, Alicia Mae left this world. But even in her passing,
she continued to give. Through organ donation, she gave the precious gift of life to
someone else—saving them from tragedy, allowing her to live on through them.
"We decided that she needed to save more lives... to help someone else not go through this again.
To save them from some other tragedy... that she could live on through them."
But that wasn't the only life she touched in her final days. In the hospital lobby,
surrounded by flowers and cards and stuffed animals, there was a balloon. Sarah walked
over to a gentleman and his caretaker and offered it to him. His face lit up. He said
he had to tell his mom he got a balloon. As he walked away, he screeched with joy.
She didn't save a life that day—she saved a day. And day by day, that's how we get by.
The Interconnected Path
Before saying goodbye, Mom and Dad stopped at Alicia's Diner in Lansing—a place that
had been part of Dad's journey years before. He used to go there for lunch at a previous
job, and he remembered Alicia, the diner's owner, being so friendly and kind to him
(while giving his co-worker complete crap). It was a moment to sit and talk, to make
final arrangements, to find peace before the hardest goodbye.
Walking up to the till, Dad asked for Grandma Alicia. She wasn't around—thinking about
selling the place. But her grandson was working, and Dad told him their story. Where
they came from. What was happening. The grandson offered them a meal, kind words, and
a prayer.
That prayer was posted on the wall. And on that same wall, among all the prayers, they
found one from Scott—a physical paper post from a man looking for a miracle. Looking
for a piece that didn't function, that he needed from somebody else.
"By God it was the only piece that Alicia could give to somebody that wasn't exactly her age."
In a world of millions of faces, billions of lives, somehow—within 30 minutes of saying
goodbye—they found a man looking for a piece of Alicia through a prayer on a wall. The
interconnectedness was insane. Though Scott wasn't ready for the help they offered, the
connection itself was extraordinary. Everything was part of her purpose.
And the interconnections didn't stop there. That night, needing a ride to get their car,
they were picked up by Alicia's granddaughter—the diner owner's granddaughter. Out of
everyone in the world, their paths crossed again.
How it's all interconnected. How it's all beautiful. It all has something to do with her,
and she's made sure that it's happened—every piece of it.
The Honor Walk
At University of Michigan Mott Children's Hospital, the staff gave Alicia Mae a final
gift of dignity and love. They lined the hallways as the family walked with her one last
time. Staff members held their phones, held lights, creating a path of honor as they
guided her home to peace and comfort.
Down the hallways, into the elevator, surrounded by family—Mom, Dad, Grandpa, other
Grandpa, Wona, Auntie, and all the people who had helped care for her. Everyone took
one more moment to hold her. One final moment to capture a memory with her.
At 2:06pm on November 5th, 2025, Alicia Mae Lopez left this world, surrounded by love.
She was loved. She will always be loved. She will always be our guardian angel.

Her Gifts to Us
Alicia Mae's gift to all was love—pure,
unconditional, overwhelming love that asked for nothing in return.
She gave us joy—in her smile, her laugh,
the way she looked at us like we were her whole world with her beautiful bright blue eyes.
She taught us knowledge—that some bonds can
never be broken, no matter the distance. That love transcends time and space. That
four months can hold forever.
"Some bonds can never be broken, no matter the distance."
She is not gone. She is watching over us—our guardian angel, our little goose,
forever guiding us, forever loved. The bond we share with her is eternal,
unbreakable, and written in the stars.
She may have only been four months old, but the footprint that she left on this world
is beyond beautiful and extends over time and distance that no one will ever understand.
How it's all interconnected. How it's all beautiful. It all has something to do with her,
and she's made sure that it's happened—every piece of it.
